Legal Status of Rohypnol in Canada
Rohypnol is not legally available in Canada. It is also illegal to possess, traffic, import or produce Rohypnol in Canada.
Letter to Desperate
Dear Desperate,
We understand your predicament and we are here to help you as best we can. With regard to your addiction to Rohypnol, you have to remember, you can always beat it. If your friends are pressuring you to do things that you don't want to do then those probably aren't the kind of people you want to be hanging out with. The people in the media that are using drugs are no different or better than the people that you hang around with, the only difference is that they're famous. There are always other ways to relieve stress, simply do something you enjoy, but remember school should always be your number one priority. Just think of all the cool stuff for yourself you could use that extra money for that you're currently using for drugs. We hope this helps you on the long, but rewarding road to beating the addiction.
Sincerely,
Teen Editor

Short and Long Term Effects of Using Rohypnol
The short-term effects of using Roofies far outweigh the long-term effects, but that doesn't make the drug any safer. Some short-term effects of Rohypnol include; mellow feeling, drowsiness, dizziness, the inability think both clearly and logically, slurred speech, clumsiness, lower heart rate, breathing rate, and blood pressure, amnesia, and the user looks generally intoxicated. The long-term effect of using Rohypnol is difficulty with general learning, and memory.
How is Rohypnol Taken?
There are a few ways that someone can use Rohypnol. You can either ingest the pill orally, either voluntarily or involuntarily, through someone "spiking" the victim's drink. And the other way is crushing it up into a powder form which causes some users to think it is cocaine.
What is Rohypnol?
Rohypnol is a class of prescription drugs used by physicians as a central nervous system depressant, otherwise known as tranquilizers. Some other prescription drugs in this class are Librium, Xanax, and Valium, but Rohypnol is 10 times more powerful than Valium, which is the most common out of the class. Drugs like these are used to treat anxiety, convulsions, muscle tension, and sleep disorders. Roofies can last up to 12 hours with some effects lasting up to as much as 24 hours. It first became popular in 1970 in Europe and has been spreading like wild fire ever since then.
